Recently, the world’s first large CdTe film low light solar panel successfully rolled of the production line at CNBM (Chengdu) Optoelectronic Materials Co., Ltd. In Chengdu, Sichuan, indicating that the first Chinese industry 4.0 CdTe film low light solar panel pilot production line with international advanced level and annual generating capacity of 80 megawatts is now in operation.
The 1.2 X 1.6m film low light solar panel integrates glass and electricity generating materials by coating a film of CdTe photovoltaic material over ordinary glazing, converting it into a conductive building material that can generate electric power. The product is a versatile recyclable green solar panel that can carry out photoelectric conversion in low light conditions and replace conventional building materials in parts of the building envelope such as bricks and curtain wall. This advance has laid a solid foundation for large scale implementation of building-integrated photovoltaics.
